Welcome to the American Scottish Gaelic Society (An Comunn Gàidhealach Ameireaganach), an organization established in 1984 to promote and advance Scottish Gaelic and the culture of the Gaels in North America.

Our primary aim is to help learners of Scottish Gaelic.

To that aim, we work with learners in many ways. We organize and hold events annually — a weeklong immersion in the language and its songs in North Carolina and mòds with competitions in singing, storytelling, and poetry.

We also occasionally give support grants to learners. And we would like to offer support and assistance to “Gaelic Learning Communities” (GLC) that are growing throughout the regions where we are active. Learn more here.

We have friendly ties with An Comunn Gàidhealach in Scotland, which runs the Royal National Mòd, though we are not a part of the organization.

We hope you find help and encouragement on the pages of this website. Please contact us if you have any questions.
