The 34th annual U.S. National Mòd — a celebration of Scottish Gaelic song, language, and culture — takes place Nov. 11 and 12, 2023. The two-day event features eight competitions, a cèilidh, and workshops.
For the fourth consecutive year the Mòd will be held online, allowing broader participation from Scottish Gaelic enthusiasts across North America and beyond. There is a $25 registration fee for all attendees and an additional $20 fee for competitors.

This year’s event features two new pre-recorded competitions: Accompanied Singing and Group Singing. Competitors in these competitions must record videos of their performance(s) and send them to ACGA by Nov. 1.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, we will hold competitions in poetry recitation, original poetry, storytelling, sight-reading (reading Gaelic prose at first sight), beginner’s song and general song. The competitions will begin at 11 am Eastern (8 am Pacific/4 pm Scotland), with a break from 1-2 pm. Competitions conclude at 4 pm Eastern.
All songs are the competitor’s choice. Beginners (first time singing at the US National Mòd) will sing one song, those in the general song competition must submit two songs.
Our adjudicators this year are Lyle and Kerrie Kennedy of Oban, Scotland. Both are Royal National Mòd Gold Medal winners. The Kennedys will lead workshops on Sunday.
A song-sharing cèilidh will follow the Mòd competitions Saturday at 4 pm and conclude at 6 pm.
