ACGA’s Virtual AGM to welcome special Scottish guests
The ACGA Annual General Meeting will be held online next weekend, and two special guests will be joining us.
Iseabail Mactaggart, Director of multiplatform content at MG ALBA, will introduce SpeakGaelic, an adult learning campaign, website, and course that will be launched this September.
The multi-media campaign will offer something to everyone from complete beginners to Scottish Gaelic speakers at different levels of fluency to help them gain speaking confidence.
SpeakGaelic will have four course levels, with 13 lessons and two classes in each lesson, accompanied by a series of 13 half-hour media programs.
The campaign is being developed by MG ALBA, the BBC, and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.
Iseabail is a Gaelic speaker from Islay, and a Mòd Gold Medalist (2004). She visited the ACGA US National Mòd along with male gold medal winner Gillebrìde MacIlleMhaoil in 2005.
ACGA will also welcome James Graham (Seumas Greumach), CEO of Scotland’s An Comunn Gàidhealach, the organization that inspired the creation of ACGA in North America.
ACG was established in 1892 to organize what is now the Royal National Mòd. James will bring us up to date on ACG’s current activities and plans for the future.
Also a Mòd Gold Medallist, having one the coveted award at the Royal National Mòd in Lochaber in 2007, James is a frequent instructor and adjudicator at ACGA events.
In addition, attendees will hear reports on ACGA activities from ACGA officers, as well as updates on the virtual Grandfather Mountain Gaelic Song & Language Week, the US National Mòd, and the Learner Support and Gaelic Learning Communities committees.
There will also be an opportunity for ACGA members to propose and discuss ideas, and ask questions of the board and officers.
The event will end with a cèilidh, as attendees share Gaelic songs, music, and stories.
The event is free, but attendees are required to register at https://acga.wufoo.com/forms/micowl1127e4ep/
We hope to see you there!
