Gaelic Song & Language Week Registration Opens

A waulking at the ACGA Grandfather Mountain Gaelic Song & Language Week.
Registration for this year’s ACGA Scottish Gaelic Song & Language Week July 2-7 at Banner Elk, North Carolina, is officially open. Click through to our Grandfather Mountain GS&LW page to access the registration form and plan your Gaelic song and language week!
This year we will welcome three teachers, Fiona J. MacKenzie and Wilma Kennedy from Scotland, and Stacey MacLean from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We’re delighted to welcome them to our second live event since COVID-19 forced us to go “virtual” in 2020. We will have language classes and song classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level learners and fluent speakers.
We will return to Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, roughly half an hour’s drive from Grandfather Mountain where the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games are held every year the second weekend in July (immediately after the Scottish Gaelic Song and Language Week).
Other activities include a cèilidh, a silent auction, and hikes in the beautiful surrounding mountains. The week ends just as the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games are getting underway at MacRae Meadows on Grandfather Mountain. There will be a Gaelic Tent at the games, and the North Carolina Scottish Gaelic Mòd will take place there on the Saturday.
We hope you will join us for this unique event and opportunity to learn, speak, and sing in Scottish Gaelic, now in its third decade!
